Loko Natyadal, Dhaka was founded on 6th July 1981 with the commitment to stage dramas having classics to experimental form as well as very essence of life of common people. On the way of 35 years it has produced different types of 27 plays and completed around 1500 nights in total so far. Remarkable plays are –Shakespeare’s A Mid Summer Night’s Dream; Bertolt Brecht’s Exception & The Rule; Rabindranath Tagore’s Rathajatra, Boikunther Khata, Boshikoron; Moliere’s The Miser, Euripides’s Helen, Buddhadev Basu’s Toposhshi O Torongini; Manik Bandopadhyay’s Padma Nadir Majhi; Kazi Nazrul’s Madhumala; Mymensing Geetika’s Sonai Madhav; Gao Xingjian’s Majh Rater Manushera etc. Loko Natyadal has organised several national and international theatre festivals. Three Decades International Theatre Festival 2011 and Mymensingh Geetika Theatre Festival 2014 are the latest two. It participated in different international theatre festivals held in New Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Shiliguri, Cuttack, Tripura, Assam, Berhampur in India and England, Monaco, Korea, Turkey, Hongkong, Nepal etc.
People’s Theatre Association (PTA), a national theatre organization of Bangladesh indeed comprises a number of theatrical activities named as Loko Natyadal, People’s Little Theatre, Theatre Bank, Children’s Theatre Movement, Jono Natya Shongha, and Drama in Education Programme.
